A Winnipeg man is behind bars and facing multiple charges after police were assaulted.
Late Sunday evening, North District Winnipeg police general patrol members arrived in the 1500 block of Magnus Avenue after hearing about a man with a large knife.
Police said when they found the man, who appeared drunk, he challenged cops while armed and didn’t follow orders, assaulting multiple officers along the way.
A stun gun and other use of force tactics were used to subdue the “violent and aggressive individual,” police said.
A 33-year-old man has been charged with two counts of possession of a weapon, two counts of failure to comply with conditions of a release order, resisting a peace officer and three counts of assaulting a peace officer.
